...I did it again, didn't I?

Yeah, I did. I didn't post for... uh, over a year, this time.

I have actually been knitting and crocheting during my extended (unintentional) absence. In 2013, I set myself the goal of completing 12 projects, an average of one per month. I met that goal, and even exceeded it. My 12 tracked projects were:
I also completed:
  • Hat and Nappy Cover #2: Ladybug
  • Hat and Nappy Cover #3: Giraffe
  • Hat and Nappy Cover #4: Jack-o-Lantern
  • Hat and Nappy Cover #5: Bunny
  • Iron Man wrist warmers for my wife
  • Easy Baby Cardigan and matching Jester Hat for a co-worker
  • Conan Quote cross-stitch for my mother-in-heart.
  • Cozy fleece sweater for my wife
  • Green and Brown socks for my nephew - one of the pair was done in time for Christmas, they're both done now.
  • Bodacious Bootie slippers in Charisma Lakeside for my daughter
  • Bodacious Bootie slippers in Charisma Lakeside for my wife
  • Bodacious Booties Slippers for my son
  • Spooky Hallowe'en socks for my wife
  • Captain America wrist warmers and 'boots' (leg warmers) in plain red, as part of my Hallowe'en costume
(Links all point back to deviantART, where I tracked this whole undertaking.)

In 2014, I set myself the goal of knitting 14 pairs of socks... and then promptly got myself all involved in non-sock projects. =/ I think I've only completed two pairs of socks, so far, this year. I have quite a few victims of second-sock-syndrome... hm. Eight, actually, if my count is correct. Does that count as four pairs of socks completed, since there are eight socks actually done, even if none of them go together?

I've made lots and lots of other things, in the meantime. I crocheted a couple dozen scrubbies and either knitted or crocheted five market bags - five and a half, since there's one in progress. I made a scarf for myself and a sweater for my mother-in-law. I cross-stitched Americana for my parents. I sewed a comfy sweater wrap for my wife to use at home, since she likes her keep-at-work one so much. I made a few purses - knitted two, sewed two. I knitted several shrug sweaters. I made a slouchy beanie and a pair of Bodacious Booties for an online friend, in exchange for some beautiful art. I have a couple of afghans on the go, one just plain orange by request and one from a Mary Maxim afghan kit. I have a baby surprise jacket on the needles, a poncho for my wife hibernating in a yarn tote, and another poncho for my wife nearly completed. And I have yarn for another afghan, and just started a colourwork slouch hat for my wife.

My wife and I also tried yarn dyeing and yarn bleaching for the first time, and had all kinds of fun with it. And I got a Rainbow Loom, and made a whole bunch of rubber band bracelets.

I think I need to get back on track with the socks, though, yeah? =)

Another drop off the blogosphere... but here I am again.

I do still exist, yes, though I seem to have done another of my random disappearing acts. =/

Truth be told, I haven't done a whole lot of knitting in the past several months. I miss it, and I'm hoping to get back to it now that things have changed around again at work.

I did just finish two pair of Bodacious Booties slippers (pattern by Dragonpine Designs, apparently available only at my local yarn shop), one in Iron Man colours for my wife and one in Captain America colours for me. And I'm working on socks for my wife in a gorgeous red-and-gold colourway that's very Iron Man-ish, too. The weather's warming up - it's sock knitting season.

I set myself a goal of 12 completed projects this year - one each month on average - to go along with my wife's 50 books project. So far I'm on track:

Completed:
  • Two amigurumi Cthulhu plushies
  • Two pair of Bodacious Booties slippers
  • One pair of 'Comfy Socks' (KnitPicks Comfy Fingering yarn)
Total: 5

In Progress:
  • The aforementioned Iron Man socks
  • A Baby Surprise Jacket for a dear friend's new little boy
  • A 'Pink Cardi' (being knitted in white yarn) for a co-worker's soon-to-arrive little girl
  • A brown knit cap with an eye on the back (don't ask)
  • Another amigurumi Cthulhu
Total: 5

On the list but not yet started:
  • Teal-and-black socks for my daughter
  • Mille Colori socks for my wife
Total: 2

Actually, since I have five completed and five more already in progress, I think I'm a little ahead of the game. The real question, here, though, is will I be able to finish them all? We shall see. =)

Long time, no knit

I fell off the blogosphere for a while - I do that, from time to time. =/

I haven't been doing much knitting, lately. I got sucked into another hobby (Avengers fandom) and that kind of took over my brain for a bit. But I did cast on something new, the other day - a dice bag for a friend of mine. It's almost done. I just have to find size 7 DPNs to finish the bottom and make the I-cord drawstring.

I'm still trying to get tiny little baby socks done for some friends at work, and one of my dearest friends just had a little one, as well. Luckily, tiny knits can be done even in the summer heat and humidity. =)

I've also picked up some Red Heart Sashay. I love the lacy scarves. I have one done in shades of blue, one nearly done in lovely earth tones, and the yarn for the one in light pinks. Maybe I'll bring those in to work after I finish the dice bag.

BSJ is done! \O/

I finished the Baby Surprise Jacket last night, and sewed the buttons on this evening. Hopefully, tomorrow's weather will cooperate and we'll have enough sunlight that I can take some good pictures of the sweater and the dragon-scale booties.

I've started the "A Good Bias" shrug from Interweave Knits Spring 2005. I'm using Bernat Handicrafter Cotton in off-white, and I'm shortening the sleeves some from 14" (as the pattern is written) to perhaps half that. I want to have something to wear over my tank-tops when I'm at work, to make things look a little nicer. This pattern is open and the cotton will breathe better than acrylic.

BSJ update

99 of 114 rows done on the Baby Surprise Jacket. This is the oddest looking thing I've ever knit - odd looking at this point, anyway. When it's done, it all folds just so and I only have to seam across the shoulders and the tops of the sleeves.

I'm hoping to get it finished tomorrow evening, after work. My wife's cousin has already had the baby for which it's being knit, so... yeah, I need to get it finished and delivered to the little'un. =)

Hope all y'all are doing well!

New ball of baby yarn!

I picked up a ball of Bernat Baby Jacquards in Macaroon, yesterday. One of the guys with whom I work is going to be a new daddy in August, and I'd like to make a little something for his little-boy-in-progress. =) (They found out the other day that it's a boy.)

I'm not sure what to make - probably booties, or maybe baby socks and a little stuffie or something. I don't know. I do know that I have to finish this Baby Surprise Jacket for my wife's cousin's new baby girl, first.

I haven't had much time to be crafty, the past few weeks. I did finish a little pair of baby booties, following a fantastic pattern about which I'll post when I put up pictures of the booties. I've also just started on the Baby Surprise Jacket. Both booties and jacket are being worked with Bernat Baby Jacquards in colourway 06230, Spearmint Candy. I love the colours. =)

I've nearly finished the shawl I started a few weeks ago, too - but I haven't touched it in a bit. It only needs a few more inches to be complete. As with the booties - pictures to come, soon!
